Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami interacted with Tarun Chakma, the father of Angel Chakma over phone on Monday and expressed grief over the murder of Angel. He informed him that the five accused in the case have been arrested. Dhami said that one of the accused is suspected to have fled to Nepal and efforts are being made to arrest him as well. A reward for him has also been announced.
The CM told Chakma that he is personally deeply distressed by the incident and could understand the family’s grief in this situation. He said that the Uttarakhand government would ensure strict punishment for the culprits. He stated that Uttarakhand has never experienced such an environment, as students from India and abroad come here to study. Therefore, this incident is painful for all of us. He assured that the State government will take strict action in such cases. He stated that following the incident, he had spoken with Tripura CM as well as Union Home minister Amit Shah and Defence minister Rajnath Singh. He stated that the state government fully stands with the victim’s family.
