Sri Lankan civil servants visit SDRF headquarters

A delegation of 39 civil servants from Sri Lanka visited the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) headquarters at Jolly Grant on Monday under a Capacity Building Programme organised by the National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG), Government of India. The visit was conducted under the guidance of the SDRF commandant Arpan Yaduvanshi.
During the visit the delegation was given detailed information about SDRF’s working system, disaster management strategies, search and rescue techniques and emergency response operations. Officials also briefed the visitors about various rescue and relief missions carried out by SDRF in Uttarakhand during natural disasters and other emergencies.
The Sri Lankan officials observed SDRF’s modern training facilities and learned about the force’s preparedness for handling disasters. They were informed about the use of advanced equipment and the coordinated response system followed by SDRF during rescue operations.
The members of the delegation said that SDRF’s experience and disaster management practices could serve as a useful model for other countries as well.
Officials said that two Sri Lankan delegations had earlier visited the SDRF headquarters under the same programme and had also appreciated the force’s training system and disaster response capabilities.
The deputy commandant Shubhank Ratudi and training inspector Pramod Rawat along with other SDRF officers were present during the visit.
