The workers of Uttarakhand BJP held a protest march towards the State headquarters of Uttarakhand Congress on Wednesday. The protest was against the Dharna of leader of opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi outside the residence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Tuesday.
Led by the president of Uttarakhand BJP, Mahendra Bhatt large number of party workers and leaders assembled at the Mahanagar BJP office near Parade Ground and marched towards the State Congress headquarters. The protesters however were stopped by the police near Kanak Chowk. On being stopped, the BJP workers squatted on the road and started shouting slogans against Rahul Gandhi. The BJP leaders said that the Rahul Gandhi and Congress are trying to defame the democratic institutions but the BJP will not allow him to do so.
Terming the Dharna of Rahul Gandhi outside the residence of PM as a drama, the State BJP president Mahendra Bhatt said that Gandhi and the Congress are attempting to create political instability by creating an atmosphere of anarchy across the country.
He said that instead of discussing the matter in the Parliament, the Congress leaders went to the PM’s residence and staged a Dharna.
“This has demonstrated Rahul Gandhi’s undemocratic thinking. The government has tried to reason with all parties with great responsibility and patience. However, the undemocratic and unconstitutional approach adopted by the Congress party has made it extremely necessary to respond. The way they are attempting to mislead students and the way they are spreading lies and mistrust in the name of NEET across the country,’’ he said.
Bhatt added that the State BJP has taken an initiative to respond to tactics of Congress and expose its dark truth to the public.
Cabinet minister Khajan Das, state general secretary Kundan Parihar, MLAs Vinod Chamoli, Brijbhushan Gairola, Sahdev Pundir, Savita Kapoor and others attended the protest.
