CS directs Tourism Dept to prepare plan to develop Tehri Lake as global tourist destination

Chief secretary Anand Bardhan has directed the Tourism department to prepare an effective plan to develop Tehri Lake as a global tourist destination. The CS gave the order while chairing a meeting held to review the progress of Tehri Lake Project of the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Council at the State secretariat on Monday. He said that the plan to develop Tehri Lake and global destination should be included in the list of the projects to be sent to the government of India. The CS also directed the Tourism department to appoint an experienced consultant. He directed the secretary Tourism to prepare a comprehensive master plan for Tehri Lake destination before the implementation of schemes of infrastructure development of Tehri Lake and nearby areas. 

The CS said that the work on preparing the plan for construction of a ring road around the Tehri Lake should be expedited. He suggested that at least two helipads should be constructed near the proposed ring road and directed the secretary Finance and Civil Aviation to work in tandem in this regard. The CS said that to develop Tehri Lake as a global destination, it is necessary that world class infrastructure facilities are developed in the area. He directed the Public Works department to expedite construction of the ring road and said that the construction of this road will give a fillip to development activities in the area.

In the meeting the CS also directed the Tourism department to prepare plans for development of tourism at Muni Ki Reti ( Rishikesh) and Lohaghat ( Champawat). The meeting was attended by secretary Dilip Jawalkar, additional secretary Abhishek Rohilla and others.
