Police arrested three persons after a woman had allegedly slapped a female police officer at Premnagar police station. The main accused has been identified as Pratiksha Semwal, while the other two are her husband Praveen Semwal and her brother Akash. All three have been charged with obstructing government work, misbehaving with public servants, assault, using abusive language and giving death threats.
Police swung into action after a complaint had been filed by a local businessman, Yashpal Singh. He alleged that Praveen, who had been working for him since 2020, had cheated him. According to Yashpal, Praveen’s salary had increased from Rs 8,000 to Rs 18,000 per month and he used to trust him completely.
However, Yashpal alleged that Praveen, along with his wife and brother-in-law, had stolen money from his office by making a duplicate key of the cash counter. He also claimed that when he had confronted them, the accused agreed to return Rs 20 lakh and gave a written statement. Later, the accused denied this, saying that they had been forced to write the statement.
After the matter reached police, Praveen was summoned for questioning. After some time, Pratiksha arrived at the police station with her brother. According to police, she started misbehaving with the police officers. When a woman sub-inspector stepped in to handle the situation, Pratiksha allegedly slapped her and tried to escape. Police personnel stopped her, and a scuffle ensued.
The circle officer (CO City), Swapnil Muyal said that all three accused were arrested and later produced in court. “We will take strict action in this case,” he stated.
