Doctors and hospital staff attacked at Doon Hospital, FIR sought

A violent altercation took place in the Government Doon Medical College hospital late on the night of December 15. On-duty doctors and hospital staff in the emergency ward were allegedly assaulted by a group led by Shanky Kukreja, who was reportedly under the influence of alcohol. The incident took place at midnight and caused panic in the emergency department.
According to the complaint, the accused arrived at the hospital with 20-25 friends and started misbehaving without any provocation. They allegedly physically attacked emergency doctors, hospital guards and staff members. A patient, Vishal Singh, was also assaulted during the incident. The violence disrupted emergency services and created fear among other patients and attendants present at the hospital.
Several hospital employees were injured in the attack, including security guards, ward boys, and medical staff. Eyewitnesses present at the spot confirmed the incident. After the assault, the accused persons reportedly fled from the scene using a car and scooties.
Doctors have demanded strict action and said the attack is a clear violence of the Medical Protection Act, under which assault on healthcare workers is a punishable offence.
