Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar hosted a farmers’ training programme in TSP Village Pairpura, Sitarganj, with the objective of disseminating modern livestock farming technologies among the farmers. The programme was conducted under the All India Coordinated Research Project–Frieswal, funded by the ICAR–Central Institute for Research on Cattle, Meerut.
Inaugurating the programme, the dean, College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, D Kumar provided information to the livestock farmers on the scientific care of cows and calves, housing management and improved animal husbandry practices.
The director, Research, Sanjay Kumar Verma encouraged the farmers to adopt modern technologies to make livestock farming more profitable.
Importantly, the vice-chancellor, Shivendra Kumar Kashyap interacted with the livestock farmers and emphasised the importance of adopting scientific methods in animal husbandry.
Following the training programme, the VC distributed mineral mixture, calcium supplements, liver tonic, feeding bowls and internal and external deworming medicines among the participating livestock farmers. He also visited the livestock units of two progressive farmers in the village and appreciated their efforts.
Around 50 livestock farmers participated in the programme.
