Governor to inaugurate 120th Kisan Mela at GBPUAT

The Governor, Lt Gen (Rtd) Gurmit Singh will inaugurate the 120th All India Kisan Mela and Agro-Industry Exhibition, slated from October 3 to 6, at Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology. Informing this, the university’s vice- chancellor, Shivendra Kumar Kashyap said on Friday that the inaugural ceremony would be held in Gandhi Hall and the State Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare minister Ganesh Joshi would be present as the special guest.
“Following the inaugural ceremony, the Governor, who is also the chancellor of the university, and other guests will tour the mela ground and address the farmers,” he said, adding that this edition of the mela would be an important platform for farmers, scientists, agricultural entrepreneurs and youth to learn and understand new agricultural technologies, research achievements, and agriculture-based innovations.
Sharing more details, the director of Extension Education, GBPUAT, Jitendra Kwatra stated that a one-way system would be in place to maintain smooth traffic flow at the mela. “Separate parking spaces have been designated for small and large vehicles arriving from various routes. Parking will be provided at designated locations for vehicles arriving from Phoolbagh and Nagla Gate. Security guards will be stationed at each entry and exit gate. They will also be deployed at the SAMETI and Harela Garden gates to manage traffic,” he added.
