Drug-free India campaign to run from June 17-26

As per the instructions by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India and the Social Welfare department of Uttarakhand, a special public awareness campaign titled ‘Drug-Free India Campaign – Identity of a Developed India’ will be held in Dehradun district from June 17 to 26. This campaign aims to raise awareness on a large scale, with the collaboration of various departments and institutions.

Chief development officer Abhinav Shah has instructed all departments to submit photographs, videos and expenditure details related to the activities conducted during the campaign to the district social welfare officer’s office within the specified time frame. This will facilitate effective monitoring and evaluation of the campaign.

District social welfare officer Deepankar Ghildiyal stated that drug de-addiction activities will take place across all development blocks, in multipurpose camps, Panchayat-level meetings and various institutions. The campaign will focus on educating youth and the general public about the harmful effects of drug abuse through both online and offline oath-taking programmes.

He informed that football, volleyball and marathon competitions will be organised from June 17th to 20th, with approximately 400 participants expected.

Additionally, from June 21 to 26, rallies, running competitions, walkathons, speech contests, Yoga contests, signature campaigns and street plays will be held at each development block level.
