PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun
The second NABL audit of the central lab in the Biochemistry department at Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) Hospital has been completed, informed the department head Dr Rajiv Kushwaha during a press conference. He stated that the audit had revealed only minor non-conformities, demonstrating the lab’s high quality and robust operation. The audit had been conducted over two working days, January 17 and 18.
Notably, the central lab is one of the few NABL-certified laboratories in the region and is particularly significant as the only NABL-certified laboratory among the State’s government hospitals and medical colleges.
Kushwaha said that this achievement further strengthens the institute’s commitment to providing quality, affordable and accessible diagnostic services. He emphasised that it is an important step toward delivering reliable and world-class healthcare services to the common people thronging the facility for subsidised treatment.
The lead auditor Dr Richa Joshi and technical assessor Dr Shipra Gupta had represented NABL during the audit process. Both assessors noted that all documents submitted by the central lab’s biochemistry section were maintained in a systematic manner. While expressing complete satisfaction with the lab’s operations, they confirmed that all doctors and technicians working there were well-trained and they adhered strictly to quality standards.
The principal Dr Geeta Jain announced that in the next phase, the Microbiology and Pathology Labs would also be prepared for NABL certification. All department heads have been instructed to inform the medical superintendent within three days of any additional testing required in the lab.
All faculty members of the Biochemistry department were present during the audit, including Dr Nidhi Negi (Professor, microbiology and lab director) and Dr Aarti Negi (assistant professor, microbiology and quality manager).
