The joint chief executive officer of Uttarakhand Film Development Council (UFDC) KS Chauhan has said that Uttarakhand is rapidly establishing itself in the fields of film production and film education.
He was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the “India-Brazil Film and Cultural Exchange Programme 2026″ of the Doon Film School at Doon Library and Research Centre on Monday. The programme is being organised under joint aegis of the Doon Society of Film and Television and Brazilian organization ‘Cinema No Interior’. The event was attended by academicians, film experts, guests, faculty members and students from India and abroad.
Appreciating the organisers, Chauhan said that such international programmes will open new doors of global opportunities for students.
The managing director of Doon Film School, Siddharth Priyadarshi said that this initiative between India and Brazil is not just an academic exchange programme, but an important effort to connect two cultures, two societies and two creative traditions through cinema.
“Cinema knows no boundaries. It is a universal language that connects people, cultures, and ideas. Our goal is not just to teach students the techniques of filmmaking, but to prepare them for global thinking, cultural sensitivity, and creative leadership,’’ Priyadarshi said.
The deputy controller of examinations, Sri Dev Suman Uttarakhand University, Hemant Bisht while highlighting the importance of international collaboration to the students, said that such programmes provide a new direction to creative education.
