KU selected for PM Professorship Scheme

Kumaun University has been included among 32 selected institutions across the country under the Prime Minister Professorship Scheme launched by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF). The objective behind this scheme is to encourage world-class research and innovation in emerging institutions. Under this scheme, retired scientists and scholars from reputable research institutes, universities, industries and laboratories are invited to guide research and innovation in emerging universities. Notably, these 32 universities/institutions have already received grants under the DSAT PEER (Promoting Academic Research and Innovation) scheme and KU is one of the leading institutions to receive the DSAT PEER grant under this scheme.

Expressing happiness, the vice-chancellor, Prof Diwan S Rawat said that this selection has made not just KU but entire Uttarakhand proud.  He also requested the top academicians of the country to partner with KU under this scheme.

Under this scheme, the selected professor will be provided a research grant of up to Rs 20 lakh per year for mentoring students and teachers in the university. “All the necessary facilities, infrastructure and academic support will be provided to these professors by KU,” the VC added.
