Kumbh Mela 2027: Sonika inspects Dakshindweep & Bairagi Camp

Administrative preparations have intensified to facilitate a safe, smooth and well-organised Kumbh Mela slated here next year. The Mela Adhikari Sonika Singh herself has been monitoring the arrangements by reaching down to ground zero.
In this sequence, she conducted a detailed field inspection of Dakshindweep and Bairagi Camp area on Tuesday morning. During the inspection, she reviewed the condition of some roads, bridges and ghats and instructed the officials concerned to strengthen them further in anticipation of heavy footfall of devotees during the mammoth religious congregation.
In Bairagi Camp, after inspecting the camp sites identified for Akharas and religious institutions, she laid stress on ensuring land levelling and adequate parking arrangements. Instructions were also given to prepare a detailed traffic plan to properly manage the anticipated traffic pressure. Further, she reviewed the electricity, drinking water and sanitation arrangements during her on-site inspection.
In Dakshindweep, she directed the officers concerned to strengthen the stairs, railings and lighting system of the ghats and ensure regular cleaning and repair. Describing the safety of devotees as the administration’s top priority, she instructed the officers concerned to identify technical deficiency and fix it.
Among the senior officers who accompanied her during the inspection were the deputy Mela Adhikari Manjeet Singh and CO Traffic Vinod Singh.
