PIONEEREDGE NEWS SERVICE | Jyotirmath
The vehicular traffic to the border region with China has been stalled due to the bridge on the Tamak Nala on the Jyotirmath-Malari highway being washed away. The executing agency is attempting to restore traffic on the highway, sources said.
The Tamak Nala flooded after heavy rain during the wee hours of Sunday. The rising level of water washed the bridge away. As a result, dozens of villages in the Niti valley including Tamak, Jumma, Kaga, Garpak, Dronagiri, Jelam, Kosha, Malari, Kailashpur and Niti have lost road link with the rest of the district.
The movement of army vehicles to the border area has also been halted. Sub divisional magistrate Chandrashekhar Vashishth informed that after the bridge was washed away, the executing agency laid hume pipes at the Tamak Nala as part of efforts to reopen the highway. Meanwhile, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed that a Bailey bridge be erected at the site to restore traffic on this important route.
