The Bharatiya Janata Party has said that the State government is alert regarding the actions of government and private schools, adding the parents of students will not be harassed by unbridled actions of private establishments. BJP State media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan said that the government has taken various important steps to address this issue.
Responding to leader of opposition Yashpal Arya’s statement on exploitation by private schools, he said that chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has talked of strict action in such cases. The Education department has issued a toll-free number 1800 180 4275 for complaints related to private schools. Parents will now be able to complain on issues related to private schools on this number. Further, the Education department has launched a new official website to provide all relevant details related to the department to teachers, students and their parents.
“The department had been receiving complaints across the State from parents regarding fee hikes, school uniforms and the parents being forced to purchase costly textbooks. The department issued a toll-free number considering the complaints. The complaints received will be evaluated by the official concerned at the directorate level and then be sent to the district level officials for redressal. The officials will act on the complaint and report about it to the directorate,” Chauhan said.
The BJP leader further said that recently action was taken against some schools and bookshops. He said that it will not be easy now to hike fees and impose books on the students. The schools will have to provide information which will include all aspects like the fees, books and uniform. Apart from the toll-free number, one can also complain to the district education officer, Chauhan added.
