Many Uttarakhand schools secure top rankings in national survey

A number of schools in Uttarakhand have featured among the best in the nation in the EducationWorld India School Rankings (EWISR) 2025-26. EducationWorld, in association with AZ Research Partners Private Limited recently released the 19th consecutive annual EducationWorld India School Rankings (EWISR) 2025-26.

Based on a nationwide field survey of 9,500 respondents, including parents, principals, teachers and educationists in 34 cities, EWISR 2025-26 rated and ranked the country’s top 4,500 schools in 518 cities and towns across India on 14-15 parameters of educational excellence, making it the world’s largest and most comprehensive school rankings survey.

This year, responding to feedback from stakeholders and expert advice from international education researchers, EducationWorld introduced a new ‘Ivy League’ category to celebrate the “best of the best” schools that have consistently dominated EW rankings across critical parameters of excellence such as teacher competence, academic reputation, co-curricular, sports education, etc, over the years. While all are awarded a common number one rank, these Ivy League schools were assigned stars (1–5) to differentiate them from one another.

This survey features many schools in Dehradun, Mussoorie and Nainital and other parts of Uttarakhand in the top 10 rankings nationwide. The Doon School in Dehradun was ranked the top in the Ivy League category with five stars (along with Rishi Valley Chittoor and Mayor College, Ajmer). In the vintage legacy co-ed day schools, St Thomas College, Dehradun was ranked third in the nation. Among the boarding schools, in the boys boarding schools category, The Doon School was ranked first in the Ivy League, Welham Boys School, Dehradun was ranked first (jointly with Sarala Birla Academy, Bengaluru) and the Birla Vidyamandir, Nainital was ranked second along with Guru Nanak Fifth Centenary School (Boys), Mussoorie being ranked sixth. Among the girls boarding schools, Welham Girls School, Dehradun was ranked 1+ while Ecole Globale International Girls School, Dehradun was ranked number one, followed by Unison World School, Dehradun being ranked second, Vantage Hall Girls Residential School, Dehradun being ranked sixth, Hopetown Girls School, Dehradun being ranked eighth, The Doon Girls School, Dehradun being ranked ninth and Guru Nanak Fifth Centenary School, Mussoorie being ranked tenth.

In the co-ed boarding schools category, Kasiga School, Dehradun was ranked second and SelaQui International School, Dehradun was ranked fourth. In the vintage legacy boys boarding school category, St George’s College, Mussoorie was ranked third while St Joseph’s College, Nainital was ranked fifth. In the vintage legacy girls boarding schools category, All Saints’ College, Nainital was ranked first nationwide while Convent of Jesus and Mary, Mussoorie was ranked second. Similarly, in the vintage legacy co-ed boarding schools category, Sherwood College, Nainital was ranked second while Wynberg Allen School, Mussoorie was ranked fourth. Mussoorie International School was ranked second in the international residential schools category while Woodstock School, Mussoorie was ranked second in the vintage legacy international residential schools category. Among government boarding schools, the Rashtriya Indian Military College, Dehradun was ranked first and Oak Grove School, Dehradun was ranked fourth while among philanthropy schools, Him Jyoti School, Dehradun was ranked second.

Founder-editor of EducationWorld, Dilip Thakore said that the objective of EWISR is to identify and celebrate India’s most admired schools and their promoters, principals and teachers who toil unsung in city suburbs and remote corners of the country.
