Dehradun municipal commissioner Alok Kumar Pandey on Monday reviewed sanitation, waterlogging, drain cleaning, dengue prevention and monsoon disaster preparedness in the wards of the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD). He directed the officials to ensure prompt action on public complaints, strengthen sanitation measures during the monsoon and keep all major and internal drains clean to prevent waterlogging and ensure smooth rainwater drainage.
Pandey instructed chief sanitation inspectors and sanitation inspectors to ensure timely disposal of complaints and regularly inspect their respective wards. He said that every complaint should be addressed without delay and officials should closely monitor civic services on the ground.
Reviewing dengue prevention measures, Pandey directed the officials to continue anti-larva spraying, fogging and source reduction activities in all wards as per the action plan. He instructed teams to inspect waterlogged areas, construction sites, vacant plots, tyres, coolers and other potential mosquito breeding spots while also conducting public awareness campaigns to prevent water stagnation and maintain cleanliness.
The municipal commissioner also reviewed the preparedness of the Quick Response Teams (QRTs) for the monsoon season. He directed that all QRTs remain fully operational, trained and equipped to respond immediately to waterlogging, fallen trees, blocked drains and other emergencies. Stating that the MCD aims to provide a clean, safe and healthy environment in every ward, he directed officials to conduct regular field inspections and strengthen monitoring, adding that negligence in sanitation, public health and civic amenities would not be tolerated.
