Three new dengue cases reported in Dehradun

Though dengue has not reached alarming proportions, cases of the infection continue to crop up regularly in Dehradun district. The cumulative number of dengue cases has now reached 627, following the identification of three new cases on Saturday. According to the chief medical officer of Dehradun Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma these new cases were reported from various hospitals: two at Himalayan Hospital and one at Kailash Hospital. Among the total cases, 292 have been confirmed in Dehradun, while 335 are from other districts and States.

Currently, 17 patients are receiving treatment for dengue: eight at Himalayan Hospital, three at Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, three at Kailash Hospital, one at Graphic Era Hospital, one at GDMC Hospital and one at Max Hospital. On Saturday, health officials collected 89 dengue samples, increasing the total number tested to 33,785, Sharma said.

Additionally, on Saturday, Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) and volunteers from the Health department conducted 5,813 household surveys to check for the presence of mosquito larvae. During these surveys, larvae were found in 44 homes. To date, the Health department has conducted a total of 2,014,199 household surveys, with 19,389 revealing positive findings for larvae. ASHA workers and volunteers also inspected 29,961 containers on Saturday, discovering larvae in 49 of them. Overall, 13,702,941 containers have been assessed, with 24,516 testing positive for larvae.
