Demanding better road connectivity and health facilities, the Congress and Uttarakhand Kranti Dal held a massive protest outside the Bharadisain Vidhan Sabha on Wednesday.
The protesters blocked the Bharadisain-Diwalikhal road due to which MLAs, officers and employees returning from Vidhan Sabha duty remained stuck for more than two hours. The Gairsain Nagar Panchayat chairman Mohan Bhandari who led the protest said that the Gairsain community health centre was upgraded to a sub district hospital years ago but it has not started functioning.
He said that the local people want the widening of the national highway which passes through Karnprayag, Gairsain, Ramnagar and Haldwani. Bhandari said that since Gairsain is the summer capital of the State, the government should function for at least six months in a year from here.
