Gautam’s removal from BJP’s national executive fallout of Gandhi’s meeting with Ankita’s parents: Godiyal

Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Ganesh Godiyal has said that following the meeting of the leader of opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi with the parents of Ankita Bhandari, the Bharatiya Janata Party was forced to remove Dushyant Gautam from its national executive. He said that the episode reflects the influence of Rahul Gandhi and shows the discomfiture of the BJP when the issue of injustice to Ankita Bhandari is raised on the national level.  The PCC president said that ‘justice for Ankita’ is not a political issue, but a question of honour and justice for the daughter of Uttarakhand. The government should explain why the victim’s family has not received justice even after so long and when it will take action on their remaining demands.

Questioning the announcement of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to set up a Youth Commission in Uttarakhand, the PCC president said that the BJP government, which remained silent on youth issues for years, has now become afraid from the anger of the youth.

He said, “It is the government, which had used force on the youth and filed cases under serious sections against youth raising their voices for their rights. Now it is forming a commission out of fear of youth anger. This is not a solution to the youth’s problems, but merely an attempt at damage control’’.

He added that though the BJP government has great faith in forming commissions, it is not ready to answer what happened to the old commissions. Godiyal said that the Migration Commission, established to address the problem of migration, was initially headquartered in Pauri Garhwal, but later the commission itself migrated from Pauri to Dehradun.
