NEET aspirants & parents back tough action against paper leaks after Gandhi’s Doon event

Many students and parents went to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s event “Chhatron Ki Goonj” in Dehradun on Friday.
Among those present were NEET aspirants who said that Gandhi’s remarks reflected concerns that many students have been discussing for years.“I have been preparing for NEET for the past two years and what hurts the most is the uncertainty. When news of paper leaks comes out, students start asking if hard work by itself is enough. The exam system must be made safer,” NEET aspirant Aditya Chauhan said.
Shubham Rana who appeared for NEET this year said that the issue goes beyond a single examination. “Students spend years preparing and families invest a lot of money and effort. If a paper leak takes place, it affects lakhs of candidates. There should be strict punishment for those involved and accountability at every level,” he said.
On the demand for cancellation of examinations affected by leaks, opinions were mixed. Chauhan said that new exams become needed when the fairness of an exam is ruined. “It is unfair, but allowing a tainted exam to stand is even more unfair,” He said. Rana, however, insisted that the Government must act fast so students do not face long periods of confusion.
Parents attending the event echoed similar concerns. Rekha Rana said that repeated leak allegations create anxiety among families. “Students are already under immense pressure. They should not have to worry about whether the system is fair,” she said. She added that stronger safeguards and fast investigations are needed. Whenever a leak is confirmed, action should be visible and time-bound. Trust in examinations can only return when students see that those responsible are being punished, she added.
