The administration of Deen Dayal Upadhyay District Hospital plans to set up a referral committee to help reduce the number of referral cases, said the newly appointed principal medical superintendent at the hospital Dr Yatendra Singh, outlining his priorities. Notably, he officially took charge on Thursday. Singh, who previously served as the principal consultant in the Radiology department, has taken charge from Dr Manu Jain.
Singh stated that upon taking charge, he is committed to ensuring that patients receive reliable and satisfactory treatment at the hospital. “The number of referral cases has declined, but in order to further minimise unnecessary referrals, a referral committee will be formed soon. This committee will include doctors from every department. He will monitor the status of referral cases, reasons for referrals and other related matters from the committee,” he added.
While speaking of his focus on patient care, he said that he would go all-out to improve hospital cleanliness and raise the number of in-patient and outpatient services as well as surgical operations.
Regarding the footfall increase in ICU, Singh said that the ICU is designated for seriously ill patients. “I will try to ensure that patients receive proper treatment to prevent the need for their ICU admission,” he said.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday night, the district magistrate Ashish Chauhan conducted a surprise inspection of the District Hospital. This unannounced inspection revealed significant negligence, unsanitary conditions and numerous irregularities inside the hospital. He issued directives for immediate action to meet the deficiencies found.
Commenting on the development, Singh reiterated his commitment to prioritising the DM’s directives and ensuring improved services for patients.
