UPES graduates receive degrees at 23rd convocation

The 23rd convocation of UPES began here on Sunday. The convocation will span five days, with separate ceremonies dedicated to each of UPES’s seven schools.

The event began on Sunday with the convocation of the School of Law (SOL) and School of Advanced Engineering (SOAE). Justice (retd) Hemant Gupta, former Supreme Court judge and chairman, India International Arbitration Centre was the chief guest while Arindam Ghosh, partner, Khaitan & Co was the guest of honour. At the School of Advanced Engineering,  Anand Ramamoorthy, MD, Micron India, was the chief guest, accompanied by Gopal Joshi, ONGC executive director as the guest of honour.  

Speaking on the inaugural day of the convocation UPES vice chancellor Ram Sharma remarked, “Today, we celebrate not just degrees but determination. Each graduate has turned learning into impact – building real skills, solving real problems, and showing real heart. Their spirit of curiosity, collaboration and purpose defines what UPES stands for. Together we’ve strengthened our industry connections, advanced research and nurtured an entrepreneurial mindset that is being recognised globally. I have no doubt that the Class of 2025 will lead with innovation, empathy and integrity in everything they do.”

On November 10, the School of Business (SOB) convocation ceremony will have Subodh Rai, CRISIL managing director as the chief guest and Lalit Aggarwal, Schlumberger (SLB) country head, as the guest of honour. Following that, on November 11, the School of Health Sciences and Technology (SOHST), the School of Liberal Studies and Media (SoLSM) and School of Design (SOD) will host AS Kiran Kumar, chairman, Physical Research, Laboratory Management Council and Member, ISRO Headquarter, Space Commission, Rohit Gandhi, Emmy Award winner, senior journalist and Pradeep Joseph, director, UX, Google India as the respective chief guests.

On this occasion, UPES will also be conferring honorary degrees to Acharya Balkrishna, CEO, Patanjali Ayurved, who will be attending as a chief guest for the School of Business (SOB) and Sunil Sethi, president, Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), the guest of honour for School of Design (SOD).
