Police arrest two more Bangladeshi nationals in Dehradun under Operation Kalnemi

Dehradun police arrested two Bangladeshi women from the Patelnagar area late on Saturday. The operation was conducted as part of Operation Kalnemi, a continuous campaign to verify residents and take action against illegal immigrants, the Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh said.
He informed that the women were detained during a joint checking and verification drive carried out by local police, the Local Intelligence Unit (LIU) and the Special Operations Group (SOG) in Pooja Vihar, Chandrabani.
During questioning and search, the women admitted to crossing into India illegally through the West Bengal border. Bangladeshi identity cards and family register documents were also recovered from them that confirmed their nationality, he said. Singh informed that legal action is being taken to deport both women in accordance with regulations. Earlier under Operation Kalnemi, five Bangladeshi nationals were arrested in Dehradun and deported, while seven others were charged and sent to jail, he added.
The arrested women have been identified as Yasmin, daughter of Mohammad Tohid Mia from Sylhet, Bangladesh and Rashida Begum, daughter of Mohammad Ulla from Chattogram, Bangladesh. Singh stated that this action is in line with legal procedures and the police will continue the drive across the district.
