Sparsh Ganga Shikshashree Award announced

On the eve of Teachers’ Day, Himalayan Educational Research and Development Society (HERDS) announced this year’s Sparsh Ganga Shikshashree Award. This award is given to selected teachers and social workers in recognition of their significant contribution in education, environmental protection and social service. The organisation has been organising this award ceremony for the past five years. Inspired by the Sparsh Ganga campaign running since 2009, the award aims to spread awareness towards education, cleanliness and environmental protection.
Those selected for this year’s award include Mamta Arya (Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University) for innovation in education, Birendra Dutt Godiyal (Government Junior High School, Patuli, Thalisain) for environmental protection, Dhirendra Joshi (Government Inter College, Dokra, Bhujiaghat, Nainital) for social service, Anuradha Pandey (PM Shri Government Girls Inter College, Kotabagh) for cultural preservation and Jai Prakash Jaiswal (GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar) for rural development and livelihood promotion.
