With the deadly Delhi blast that occurred on November 10 kept in view, Dehradun police have intensified checking drives across Dehradun district. Speaking of the dive, the senior superintendent of police, Dehradun, Ajai Singh said that the drive is being conducted to ensure public safety and identify suspicious individuals.
Sharing details, a police officer privy to the details said that about 1,800 vehicles have been checked and over 3,300 people have been questioned on Monday. “Those coming from other states were questioned too and their verification details were collected for verification,” the police officer said.
Police teams started the checking drive from early morning in both urban and rural areas of the district. They were particularly focused on the border check posts, interior roads, religious places, crowded areas and other sensitive locations.
Police further said that strict actions were taken against the drivers found violating traffic rules.
Stressing on continuity, the SSP said that apart from regular checking, such large-scale surprise checking would be carried out from time to time.
