Ramtirtha Conference: Speakers highlight the saint’s contribution

The Swami Ramtirtha Foundation initiated the Swami Ramtirtha Vedanta Conference on the legendary mathematician at Saraswati Shishu Mandir here on Wednesday. Those who addressed the gathering noted that the saints like Swami Ramtirtha and Swami Vivekananda had shaped the society.
The registrar of Sri Dev Suman University, Dinesh Chandra stated that Swami Ramtirtha was a mathematician, patriot, social reformer and saint rolled into one. “He awakened patriotism and spirituality in the society. He also travelled abroad and promoted Indian culture and spirituality, pulling foreigners to the Indian society. Also, he travelled the Western world and his lectures deepened respect for India in the Western world and fostered a strong appreciation for Vedanta philosophy there,” he added.
Echoing the same view, the dean of the Zoology department at Swami Ramtirtha Campus of Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University (HNBGU), N K Agarwal said that Swami Ramtirtha was a beacon of patriotism and social service. “He was a nationalist par excellence with his whole being permeated with a fervent love for India,” he added.
Others who addressed the gathering stressed on the youth of the country emulating such stalwarts who personified patriotism, internationalism and a commitment to the welfare of mankind.
