A woman from Dehradun has filed a complaint at Rajpur police station, accusing a school teacher and two others of duping her family of Rs 17.8 lakh by promising admission for her daughter to IIT Roorkee through a ministerial quota.
As per the complaint filed by Neha Bhalla, her daughter was a class XII student in a private school. Her home tutor Ravindra Saini had allegedly told the family that he could get her daughter admitted to IIT Roorkee with the help of some influential persons. The complainant claimed that the teacher and his accomplices had gained their trust and goaded them into paying Rs 15 lakh as advance through online transactions. Later, more had been allegedly demanded on the pretext of preparing domicile certificates and meeting other formalities.
The complainant further stated that the teacher had told them that even the examination papers were ready and they were asked to collect them. But these had never been handed to the family, she alleged.
Bhalla said in the complaint that they had found themselves deceived and cheated after the IIT results were announced.
As per the complaint, the accused duo have now been threatening the family with a case to be filed in Delhi. According to the police, they have registered the FIR and started an investigation.
