In a crackdown on permit violations, the Regional Transport Office (RTO) Dehradun Division seized five vehicles for allegedly violating the conditions of the All India Tourist Permit (AITP) near Sahastradhara Helipad. According to officials, a special checking drive was conducted by the Interceptor Team of Dehradun in the Sahastradhara Helipad area, as per the instructions of the regional transport officer (Enforcement and Road Safety) Anita Chamola.

During this campaign, action was taken against vehicles registered in other states that were found to be in violation of AITP conditions. Investigations revealed that some vehicle owners were transporting passengers to and from hotels, Railway Stations and other locations, which is against the AITP rules and regulations, officials added.

The officers of the department emphasised that the purpose of the AITP permit is to ensure transportation operates in accordance with established regulations. Carrying passengers locally in violation of these rules constitutes a serious offense, they added.

Notably, during the campaign, officials inspected vehicle documents, permit conditions, operational patterns and vehicle usage. If any violations were discovered, the vehicles were seized and fined according to regulations. The operation involved transport tax officer Shweta Rauthan, along with team members TAI Mohar Singh, Amit, Naveen, enforcement driver Dharam Singh and PRD Kuldeep.
