Police have registered a case against folk singer Pawan Semwal at Patelnagar police station in Dehradun for releasing a song alleging that corruption and prostitution have increased in Uttarakhand under the Pushkar Singh Dhami government.

The officials informed that the authorities served a notice to Semwal and released him with instructions to cooperate with the investigation in the future on Sunday. Semwal had reportedly promoted and circulated the song through his Facebook page on a YouTube channel a few days ago. He later removed the song but allegedly re-promoted and re-circulated it on the same YouTube channel using his Facebook page on July 19.

The song reportedly claims that corruption and prostitution have increased in Uttarakhand under the current government. A woman filed a complaint at Patelnagar police station alleging that the song tarnishes the image of women in Uttarakhand. Following this, the police registered a case against Semwal under multiple sections and brought the singer to Dehradun from the Kalyanpuri police station in Delhi for questioning and later served him a notice.

The officials said that Semwal has been asked to cooperate with the authorities during the investigation. Besides this, several women also protested outside the Patelnagar police station demanding action against Semwal. The police assured them that they are investigating the matter and will take action accordingly.
