PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun

The Uttarakhand Jal Sansthan (UJS) has made extensive arrangements for the convenience of pilgrims during the Char Dham Yatra 2026. Preparations began some days ago to ensure a smooth experience for visitors. UJS officials informed that they have installed several water facilities along the Yatra route, which include 582 Tank Type Stand Posts (TTSP) and Pillar Type Stand Posts (PTSP) in addition to 1,071 hand pumps, 82 water ATMs/water purifiers and 97 water tankers.

The officials further said that the arrangements involve the deployment of 26 departmental and 71 hired tankers. To provide information about drinking water facilities available to pilgrims, 308 signboards and 18 LED boards have also been installed. The officials said that they have set up 36 geysers for hot water and 61 drinking water points along the Kedarnath, Hemkund Sahib and Yamunotri trekking routes for horses and mules.

The officials stated that the department began monitoring and inspecting the functionality of these water structures prior to the Yatra’s commencement. This monitoring process helps identify any issues with the water facilities. Should any defects be found at that time, the structures would be repaired or replaced as necessary. Further, officials urged that pilgrims facing any water-related issues can contact UJS at the toll-free numbers 1800 180 4100 and 1916, which will also be displayed on the water structures.
