Special clinic comes up at district hospital  for paediatric diabetic patients

A new initiative has been launched to treat paediatric diabetic patients at Uttarkashi district hospital as part of the “Glucose Treatment and Child Health Protection Campaign on Saturday. The chief medical officer Dr B S Rawat inaugurated the clinic. “This clinic will help children suffering from type 1 diabetes have access to better and consistent medical care,” he said.

This specialised clinic will now ensure insulin monitoring, treatment, regular testing and consistent availability of insulin for children and youth with congenital and childhood diabetes (Type 1 diabetes), the district health officers said, adding that monitoring kits and regular medical consultations will also be made available free of charge to Type 1 diabetes patients under the National Programme for the Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases.

Among the dignitaries present on the occasion was the chief superintendent of the district hospital, Dr P S Pokhriyal.
