A tiger was seriously injured in a territorial fight in the Gabua forest area under Terai West Forest Division. Acting swiftly, the Forest department team tranquilised the injured feline and shifted it to the Dhela Rescue Centre for treatment, where its condition is stated to be critical.
Sharing details, the divisional forest officer (DFO), Prakash Chandra Arya said that during a routine patrol on Tuesday, forest personnel had spotted the tiger in an injured state in Gabua forest area. “Considering the severity of its injuries, a rescue operation was immediately carried out, and the animal was safely tranquilised. It was then taken to the Dhela Rescue Centre for medical care,” he added.
The wildlife veterinarian, Dr Dushyant Kumar Sharma stated that the tiger had sustained multiple deep injuries in the territorial fight with another tiger. “The condition of the seven years old tiger is critical,” he added.
Forest department officers said that tigers clash with tigers and other large predators, often driven by territory or hunting competition. “This is not uncommon. But what concerns us in this particular case is the extent of its infection. A team of veterinarians is continuously monitoring and treating it,” Sharma added.
