The Food Safety and Drug Administration (FDA) continued its inspection drive at hotels, restaurants and food shops in Dehradun to ensure that people are served safe and quality food. On Sunday, the department officials collected seven food samples from different establishments for laboratory testing. The samples were collected from Oasis Complex and Premnagar after officials found them suspicious during inspections. The inspection was carried out on the directions of FDA commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey and the Dehradun district magistrate Ashish Chauhan.
According to officials, Food Safety assistant commissioner Manish Sayana led the inspection drive in the district. Senior Food Safety officer Ramesh Singh inspected food establishments in Oasis Complex. Four samples, including toned milk, spices and cheese, were collected for analysis.
Three samples, including suji, maida and dalia, were collected from Premnagar by senior FSO Santosh Kumar Singh.
Officials also issued improvement notices to five food business operators (FBOs) after finding deficiencies in their licences. The food business operators were instructed to maintain proper cleanliness and hygiene at their establishments. Officials also directed them to follow the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and related rules.
