Residents of Badrish Colony, land number one in the Danda Dharampur area raised their concerns about a drinking water shortage problem due to low pressure in the pipelines at the Uttarakhand Jal Sansthan (UJS) office here on Saturday.  The locals met the UJS chief general manager DK Singh and demanded immediate action to address the water supply issue that has persisted for the past three months. The locals were assured that the issue will be resolved within a week.

The colony secretary Deepak Nautiyal expressed concern about the ongoing water shortage, stating that water pressure has decreased significantly in the pipes recently, resulting in a shortage of water. Since April, they have written letters to UJS and submitted complaints to the CM portal, but no action has been taken for three months. They then decided to meet the UJS CGM to seek a swift resolution. If the problem persists, they are prepared to escalate the matter to the CM, he said.

Colony resident Kamla Gusain spoke about the difficulties they face due to the inadequate water supply. She said that summer brings significant challenges, yet no action has been taken. Now they thought it necessary to meet the CGM directly to request prompt action. For three months, the residents of the colony have been experiencing water issues that have affected their daily lives, she added. Many other residents from the colony also reached the UJS office on Saturday and expressed their concerns. They reported that about 90 families have been affected by the water shortage in their area for three months.

In response, Singh stated that they have listened to the residents’ concerns. He informed that diretions have been issued to the officials concerned to address this issue and the water problem in the colony will be resolved within a week.
