A three-day exhibition organised under the joint aegis of the Culture department and the Doon Library and Research Centre (DLRC) was inaugurated on Tuesday to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the State within the library premises. The exhibition focuses on various documents related to the Uttarakhand Statehood movement.

The event was inaugurated by the secretary of the Culture department, Yugal Kishore Pant and the president of the DLRC BK Joshi. The exhibition will run until November 13 and represents a significant effort by the State Archives of Uttarakhand to showcase various records pertaining to the Uttarakhand State movement.

Joshi highlighted that this exhibition underscores the struggle, sacrifices, dedication and martyrdom of the activists involved in the Uttarakhand statehood movement. He commended the Culture department of Uttarakhand for this important initiative, noting that the general public—particularly youth, students and researchers—will gain valuable insights into the history of the Statehood movement through the records on display.

Exhibition coordinators Lalita Prasad and Manoj Jakhmola from the State Archives shared that the exhibition prominently features news articles and photographs depicting processions, lathicharges, instances of firing, arson, arrests and curfews reported during the State movement. Additionally, it includes posters, leaflets, pamphlets, folk songs, poems, slogans and correspondence between the governments of then Uttar Pradesh and other States, as well as the Central Government.
