Union Health minister exhorts students to use education for welfare of humanity & the poor

Union minister of Health and Family welfare, JP Nadda has said that the youngsters should use the education they have received for the welfare of humanity, poor and those who are standing at the last ladder of the society. He was addressing the eight convocation ceremony of the Swami Ram Himalayan University, Jollygrant on Saturday. He said that the next 25 years of the Amrit Kaal of the country will be decisive for the creation of a developed India and today’s youth will be participants in this endeavour.

Congratulating the 1,001 students receiving degrees in the ceremony Nadda said that this convocation is not just an academic milestone, but the beginning of a new journey in life. A degree also carries with it a responsibility towards human development and society, he said. Nadda said that under the leadership of its president Dr Vijay Dhasmana, the SRHU is setting new records in the field of human service, medicine and education. He also highlighted India’s strong and stable economy under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and initiatives like Ayushman Bharat, improvement in maternal and infant mortality rates, progress in TB-malaria-diarrhoea elimination and early detection of cancer in the health sector. 

In his address, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that development activities are being undertaken in Uttarakhand as per the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.  He said that the youth power is the State’s greatest strength and that SRHU has distinguished itself in the fields of education, medicine and public service. The CM added that Uttarakhand is receiving cooperation from the Central government and the Union Health minister in the Ayushman Bharat Scheme, telemedicine services and expansion of health services in the mountainous areas. He said that concrete action is being taken in the State in areas such as reverse migration, roads, electricity and internet connectivity reaching remote areas, tourism development, SDG rankings, fisheries and the rural economy. He exhorted the students to use their knowledge, skills and sensitivity in nation building, so that the spirit of compassion, humanity and service is clearly reflected in their work.

 Education and Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat said Uttarakhand is performing well in the health sector at all levels, from human resources to infrastructure and that the State has consistently received exemplary support from the central government in developing health facilities.

The president of the university, Dr Vijay Dhasmana said the Institute’s primary focus is to provide better healthcare through human service and ethics.

Former CM and Haridwar MP Trivendra Singh Rawat, State BJP President Mahendra Bhatt, University vice chancellor Rajendra Dobhal and others attended the ceremony.
