Acting on the instructions of the Tehri district magistrate, Nitika Khandelwal, the additional district magistrate, A K Singh conducted a field inspection of New Tehri town to resolve the recurrent waterlogging being faced by the people during rainy season. He directed the officers concerned to have encroachments removed from the drains, clean the drains, lift the drinking water lines and take action for transfer of the forest land where a dumping zone, meant for disposal of Construction and Demolition Waste (C&D), is to come up.
Along with this, the PWD and the municipality were asked to open the blocked drains near the officers’ colony and Convent School and install a hinged net over the drains so that there is no problem in cleaning the drains from time to time.
