PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun
The State Employees Joint Council, the federation of State government employees, has threatened to launch an agitation in support of their long pending demands. A decision in this regard was taken in the meeting of the State executive of the council at Government ITI Niranjanpur complex on Saturday. The meeting was chaired by the State president of the council Arun Pandey.
The spokesperson of the council RP Joshi said that discussion on the status of 19 point demands of the council were held in the meeting. He said that the office bearers expressed deep resentment on the fact that the State government has taken no decision on the biggest demand of the State government employees which is assured promotion at the end of 10,16 and 26 years of government service. Joshi said that the decision of the State government to hike the employee’s contribution by Rs 225 to 1450 for the Golden Card scheme is also unacceptable. He said that the government should have taken the employees into confidence before taking any decision in this regard.
In the meeting, the executive committee finalised the plan of the agitation. Joshi said that from January 15 to 31, 2026 an awareness campaign will be organised in the state with the help of gate meetings.
On February 7, 2026, one day protest in the districts will be organised while State level Dharna will be held in Dehradun on February 21. Joshi said that the employees will submit memorandums to their local MLAs from February 22 to March 12. He added that on March 13, 2026 a State level rally will be organised in Dehradun in which an announcement for the indefinite agitation will be made.
The State president, Pandey said that no solution has emerged on the demands of the employees even after several rounds of talks with the government due to which the council has been forced to prepare a plan for a comprehensive state level agitation.
