1,738 complaints received by UJS till June 8

MANSI BHAMBRI/Dehradun
The Uttarakhand Jal Sansthan (UJS) has received a total of 1,738 complaints from April 1 to June 8 through the toll-free number for reporting issues related to water supply, secretary (Appraisal) Maneesh Semwal said.
Of the complaints received, 325 are pending resolution for more than the last 60 days. The remaining complaints are currently being processed and will be resolved shortly. Semwal informed that some complaints are resolved within 24 hours, while others may take five to seven days. In the meantime, alternative water supply options, such as tankers, will be made available in areas where complaints have been raised, he said.
He further informed that according to UJS data, of the 1,738 registered complaints, the highest number—1,261—concerns residents reporting disruption of water supply while five complaints involved broken sewer chambers. Other reported issues include pipeline leaks, sewer blockage or overflow, areas without water and low water pressure.
Semwal said that during the summer season, complaints of water supply disruption increase due to several reasons including a rise in demand for water, a decline in supply from sources and occasional power outages affecting water supply.
He further said that as soon as complaints are registered on the toll-free number, the officials concerned are notified and directed to address the issues promptly. Senior officials of UJS conduct monthly virtual meetings to review the status of complaint resolutions and pending complaints.
The UJS has provided the toll-free numbers 1800-180-4100 and 1916 for any complaints or support. Residents across the State can reach out for assistance related to water supply or register their complaints through these numbers.
