1962 MVU: 23 k animals treated in Uttarkashi so far

1962 Mobile Veterinary Units (MVU) operated by the state government are proving to be a lifesaver for the cattle keepers of Uttarkashi district. The cattle keepers neither have to travel long distances for the treatment of their sick animals nor have to bear the cost of expensive treatment. With just one phone call, a team of veterinary doctors is reaching their doorstep and providing free treatment. This service is no less than a boon for the rural areas.
The district magistrate, Prashant Arya expressed satisfaction over the effective functioning of 1962 Mobile Veterinary Unit (MVU) operating in the district after dialling himself the number on Thursday. According to district administration sources, he closely examined the call response, team deployment and animal treatment system. “This unit is a big relief for rural animal keepers and it needs to be continuously strengthened,” he said.
He was informed that at present five mobile veterinary units are operating free of cost in Bhatwadi, Dunda, Chinyalisaur, Naugaon and Mori blocks of the district. These units go from village to village and listen to the problems of livestock owners and treat animals.
So far, more than 23,230 animals in the district have been treated free of cost through these mobile units.
