Dehradun mayor Saurabh Thapliyal directed officials of the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) to strengthen waste collection and disposal systems to prevent public inconvenience He also instructed them to improve the management of gaushalas and ensure proper care and maintenance of animals in MCD’s shelters. Thapliyal issued these instructions on Monday while chairing a meeting to review the city’s monsoon preparedness along with sanitation and civic services.
Highlighting monsoon preparedness, Thapliyal directed the officials to complete the cleaning of drains, monitor waterlogging-prone areas and other sensitive areas and ensure emergency arrangements are in place before heavy rainfall. He stressed that all departments should work in coordination to minimise inconvenience to citizens during the rainy season.
Dehradun municipal commissioner Alok Kumar Pandey, chief municipal health officer Dr Anand Shukla and senior municipal veterinary officer Dr Varun Aggrawal attended the meeting.
