The Bharatiya Janata Party State president and Rajya Sabha member Mahendra Bhatt welcomed the increase in commercial LPG cylinder quota considering the Char Dham Yatra. He assured that the government will ensure that eateries do not face a shortage of cooking gas in addition to ensuring adequate supply of petroleum products. He claimed that the Yatra will set new records this year with the State government under chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami committed to ensuring a safe and convenient pilgrimage. Bhatt also appealed to the public to ignore rumours about shortage of LPG, petrol and diesel.

The BJP State chief said, “The Uttarakhand government is also serious about the availability of LPG and other petroleum products considering the West Asia conflict. I am satisfied with the preparations undertaken by the State government for the Char Dham Yatra starting on April 19. There is adequate stock of LPG and petroleum products in the nation and the State at present. The Centre has already provided a 20 per cent additional quota to the State. Considering the State government’s preparations and six per cent additional commercial LPG quota granted to us, there is no need to worry about eateries on the Yatra circuit. Similarly, there are no issues with the availability of petrol, diesel and CNG on the Yatra circuit with the State government also taking necessary steps in this regard,” Bhatt said.

The BJP State president further said that the Char Dham Yatra is the backbone of the State’s economy with lakhs connected to it for their livelihood. Considering this, he appealed to the stakeholders and visitors to avoid heeding unconfirmed information as rumours spread regarding food items, accommodation and fuel during the pilgrimage may affect the Yatra negatively, he said.
