Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has sanctioned a sum of Rs 45 lakh for the family members of nine deceased journalists in the State.
The proposal for the financial assistance to the CM was sent by the journalist welfare committee of the State government The committee in its meeting held on April 29 had recommended Rs five lakh each to families of nine journalists who had died recently. The committee also recommended that a sum of Rs 20 lakh should be paid to five journalists suffering from critical diseases. On Thursday these proposals were sanctioned by CM Dhami.
In its meeting the committee had recommended pension to three eligible journalists under the Mukhyamantri Patrakar Samman Pension Yojana. This recommendation was also approved by the CM on Thursday.
The meeting of the committee was attended by director general (DG) information Bansidhar Tiwari, additional director information Ashish Tripathi and members of the Journalist welfare committee Ramesh Pahadi, TC Bhatt, Beena Upadhyaya and Rakesh Kumar Dhiman.
