Set aside political calculations and come forward to protect peace and State’s character: Bhatt
The Bharatiya Janata Party has stated that the opinion of the Congress on land Jihad and the Purola incident is unfortunate and one which hurts the sentiments of Uttarakhand’s people. Referring to former chief minister and senior Congress leader Harish Rawat’s statement, the BJP State president Mahendra Bhatt opined that he is intentionally ignoring the facts of the case and viewing it from a political perspective. Due to the Congress’ policy of appeasement, its leaders are supporting AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi which is not a solution to the issue. “Those who are denying land and love Jihad should set aside politics and clear their opinion on the subject. If they are indirectly supporting those carrying out such actions, they should clarify the reasons for doing so. They should also clarify if migration has taken place in such areas and the real reasons for the same. The BJP government is undertaking verification to check land Jihad in the State and has also introduced a strict anti-conversion law. These steps are aimed at preserving the State’s identity and authentic form,” Bhatt said.
The BJP State chief said that one should avoid disturbing the peace on such issues and instead of looking at it from a political viewpoint, seriously consider the traditions of Uttarakhand and the changing demography. A constructive approach by the opposition is also important to find a permanent solution to these issues. If the people of this region are concerned about their rights and form, their views also need to be heard. Along with the government, it is the responsibility of the people too to maintain the cultural, social and spiritual form of the State, he said. Bhatt further said, “The State government is ensuring the law and order while taking strict action against people involved in such deeds to maintain the State’s authentic form and thwart the conspiracy of those wanting to disturb peace in Uttarakhand. It is vital to rein in those spreading poison in society, for which every party and organisation needs to set aside political calculations and come forward to do the needful,” he said.
