Meteorological centre issues orange alert yet again

Light to heavy rain was experienced in various parts of the State including the suburbs of Dehradun on Monday though there were no reports of squalls causing any major damage. The maximum temperature in Dehradun did not register any major drop. Meanwhile, the State meteorological centre has once again issued an orange warning (alert) regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning, intense showers and squall (wind speed 60- 70 gusting 80 kmph) likely to occur especially in the mountainous regions of the State today.
Moderate rain/thunderstorms are very likely to occur at many places in Uttarakhand on Tuesday.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness partly to generally cloudy skies. Light to moderate rain/thunderstorms accompanied with squall (wind speed 60-70 kmph gusting up to 80kmph) are likely to occur in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 38 degrees Celsius and 21 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.
The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various places on Monday were 37.8 degrees Celsius and 25.4 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 38.9 degrees Celsius and 26.6 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 22.7 degrees Celsius and 15.9 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 26.9 degrees Celsius and 17.4 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. Light to heavy rainfall was reported in various parts of the State on Monday with 72.5 millimetres in Nainital, 52.5 millimetres in Jhajhra, 41.5 millietres in Vikasnagar and 17.4 millimetres in Mohkampur.
