In latest news from Dehradun, furthering the cause of water conservation espoused by the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Mussoorie- Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) has decided to inspect hotels, malls, group housings and the like to check whether they have made provision for rainwater harvesting structures or not. MDDA would initiate action against those which would be found as not complying with this norm. Notably, MDDA approves the plans for hotels, malls, group housings and the buildings of business establishments.
According to MDDA vice-chairman Banshidhar Tiwari, having provision of rainwater harvesting structures in such buildings is an imperative. He has directed the engineers of all the sectors to inspect MDDA-approved buildings so as to ensure that these have the rainwater harvesting facility. If it is found that this norm is not being complied with, actions against these should be initiated.
