CM reviews disaster preparation on returning from New Delhi

Amid incessant rains and disaster triggered by them in many parts of the State, the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited the State emergency control centre at the secretariat immediately after his return from New Delhi on Tuesday. The meteorological centre has warned that very heavy rainfall is likely to occur in most of the districts of the State on Wednesday and Thursday and in view of this warning the State administration is in an alert mode. The CM held telephonic interaction with the district magistrates of Tehri and Pauri. He took information about the damage to life and property in their respective districts. Dhami directed all the DMs to keep the district administration in an alert mode and maintain coordination with all the organisations extending help during disaster. He directed the DMs to keep sufficient stock of medicines and food grains. The CM also directed the senior officers of the State administration and the disaster management secretary to maintain coordination with all DMs.
He said that large numbers of people in the State have been affected by the heavy rains and many have lost their family members. Many have been rendered homeless. The CM said that the State government will soon come up with a scheme under which rehabilitation of the people rendered homeless will be done. Similarly arrangements for education of the children who have lost their parents will be made by the government. The CM said that the State has suffered a loss of Rs 1,000 crore by the rain caused disaster. He said that heavy damage to roads, bridges, houses, crops, water and electricity lines has occurred. Dhami said that a team of the Union government has done a preliminary survey of the damage caused. The CM said that the State government will also send a letter to the Union government regarding the assessment of the damage to the State.
The additional chief secretary Radha Raturi, secretary Shailesh Bagauli, disaster management secretary Ranjit Sinha, additional chief executive officer of state disaster management authority Ridhim Agarwal, additional secretary Savin Bansal and others were present on the occasion.
