On January 22, the ghat of the Kali river flowing between Nepal and Pithoragarh district in the State will be illuminated with 1,008 diyas to celebrate consecration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. In addition to this, special prayers are set to be performed in various important temples in Nepal on the occasion.
The Kali river marks the border between India and Nepal in this part of Uttarakhand. The Dharchula Tehsil of Pithoragarh district lies on the Indian side while the Darchula is situated on the banks of the river on the Nepal side. With a majority Hindu population, Nepal too is witnessing enthusiasm for the consecration ceremony in Ayodhya. The people of Nepal have decided to light 1,008 lamps along the Kali river on January 22. On this day, there will be a special Ram Aarti and Shri Ram diyas will be lit by the people in their homes in Nepal. To mark the occasion of consecration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, hawans are slated to be performed in various prominent temples in the Darchula district of Nepal. Special prayers and rituals are scheduled to be held in the Mallikarjun temple, Dungri, Brahmadev Siddha Baba, Vyas Rishi temple and Surma Sarovar Latinath. Along with the puja rituals, devotees have also planned to light 1,008 diyas on the banks of Kali river and offer these to the river. Bhandaras are also slated to be organised in prominent temples in Nepal on the occasion.
The former mayor of Darchula in Nepal, Hansraj Bhatt said, “The followers of Sanatan Dharma fought a long struggle of 500 years and now finally seeing Ram Lalla reach the grand temple from the tent is a joyous moment for us too.”
Nepali journalist and educationist Padambadal said that religiously, spiritually and philosophically, the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya is a moment of happiness for everyone. The construction of Ram temple will also strengthen the political relations between India and Nepal, he opined.
Former State president of PVP Far West Nepal, Mahesh Bhatt said that people in India as well as in Nepal are very happy with the construction of Ram temple. Various programmes will be organised in the temples of this area in Nepal on January 22, he added.
