The State sports department has recently written to the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), providing it with tentative dates for the 38th National Games which would be held later this year in Uttarakhand and urging it to confirm the same.
Informing this, the additional director of the sports department Ajay Agarwal said on Wednesday that the preparation of the National Games is now going on in full swing. “We have requested IOA to fix the schedule of the National Games on the basis of the schedule we sent to them in the letter,” he said, adding that his department has also requested IOA to send the technical conduct committee to assess the preparations for the National Games.
The director of the State sports department Jitendra Sonkar affirmed that 90 per cent of the preparations, including the infrastructure works, for the National Games slated in the State have been completed. “The remaining 10 per cent work will be done after the dates are finalised,” he added.
